    About

    Bio (of sorts)

I'm Carlo Carfora, a CG artist and generally creative person currently residing (and working) in London. I graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2009 with a 2:1 in 3D Games Art, where I not only had a brilliant time studying(!) but also learning skills such as teamwork and time management that I've carried over to my professional career.

I've put this site together to show my portfolio, and to try and document my progress as an artist. I also wanted something more than just a gallery of my work, I've to tried to bring across a bit of my personality and make it more personal.

    Currently...

Right now, I'm working full time at onedeadpixel while working on a few side projects in my spare time.

Previously I have freelanced on-site and off for various clients ranging from TV to websites to printed media.

    Where I'd like to be

Working in the games industry as an environment artist, as that is where my real passion for 3D lies. I'd love to work in a studio making great games, surrounded by a great team of people who's talent would hopefully rub off on me in the process of working!

I've also developed a more technical interest in the cg industry, and would like to become more of a technical artist as I develop my skills in this field.

    Downtime

When I'm not doing professional work I'm usually working on personal projects, 3D is very much a passion of mine and I enjoy furthering my skills through practice and hard work. I'm a bit of a gamer too, grabbing the chance when I can to play the latest releases on my pc and console.

When I'm not in front of my computer I like to pick up my guitar and I enjoy a wide genre of music. I enjoy hobbies supplemental to 3D such as photography and I also attend a weekly life drawing class, which has helped me develop my traditional art skills and creative eye.

    Polycount Workshops

This was for a workshop on the polycount forums. The idea behind it being that everybody models the same object and we learn from each others techniques. For this workshop the object was an EOtech sight, you can see my end results below and click on this link to see my fully documented thread.

    Photography

When I get the chance I enjoy taking my DSLR out for a spin, not as often as I like but it's come along with me to some great places. Some of the images I've shot are below, click the gallery for a larger view!

Images coming soon, when I've set up a flickr and it's all working!
